Self-Help Federal Credit Union was founded in 2008 to expand Self-Help’s mission by increasing access to responsible and affordable financial services in underserved communities, initially in California.

Self-Help Federal Credit Union is a federally insured credit union affiliate of Self-Help, whose mission is creating and protecting ownership and economic opportunity for people of color, women, rural residents and low-wealth families and communities. Self-Help has served low-income individuals and communities since 1980 by making  home loans and commercial loans, developing affordable housing and commercial real estate. With the launch of the new Self-Help Federal Credit Union, we are able to expand our services and service area. We’re currently seeking founding depositors to help us provide responsible financial services in additional underserved communities.
